    Watch Yourself

My sisters and I had an amazing weekend in Vegas for my birthday.  At my age I don’t expect gifts or parties, I just want a good time and that’s what I got.

IMG_3815When I got home I found a cute little box waiting for me.  I had been emailing with someone from Jord Watches before I left for Vegas but didn’t expect to find one waiting for me.

Jord is a locally owned St. Louis, Missouri company and they design/produce real wood watches from sustainable materials from all around the world.  They have concentrated on mostly male and unisex designs so far but they have several women’s series in the works.  When I checked out thier website I was dismayed to see none of their watches (not even the mens) would fit my large wrist.

I replied to the email stating my problem of being large boned and they immediately said no problem we will customize the watch to fit you.  How could I refuse?

IMG_3819Imagine my surprise when the watch arrived and it FIT!  I have a nine inch wrist.  I chose the Sidney Cherry with a Mother of Pearl face.  It is gorgeous.  My pictures do not do it justice.

As well as being a large women I am also a sensitive woman.  I breakout when I come in contact with almost everything.  I have to put nail polish on the arms of my glasses so I don’t have a rash on the side of my face all the time.

I wore the watch for an eight hour day at work and I had no reaction to any of the wood parts!  I left the clear pastic on the clasp and it did not bother me all day but the metal on the back of the face did start to irritate me near the end of the day.  Sigh.  I am sure I can counter it with nail polish.

IMG_3817Jord has so many different designs and choices there really is something for everyone.  The packaging makes it such a beautiful gift.

They have also partnered with Albert Pujols of the Angels, the Pujols Family Foundation is based out of St. Louis, and they partnered with them to create a custom watch. The wood that is used is Maple, which is what Albert uses for his bats, the face of the watch includes a baseball player with Albert’s classic swing and a red 5.  20% of each sale goes back for children with downs syndrome and the Dominican Republic.  You know I have to support something baseball related even if it is for the dreaded Angels!

These are the watches I referred to with much better pictures than I could ever take.

Disclosure: In case you’re dense and didn’t read, I received a free watch.  No one asked me to post a review, simply to post pictures to my social media outlets.  And if you believe for a minute that all thoughts are not my own, well then just click that little x in the corner.

Happy Birthday to Me – My Three Year Plan

    Happy Birthday

    Happy Birthday (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

It’s my Birthday!  I never used to really enjoy celebrating my birthday.  I would wait for someone else to make plans to celebrate me, and it wouldn’t turn out the way I liked or I would worry that everyone else was having a good time blah blah blah.  These last few years I am focusing more on ME.  And because of that I am no longer waiting for others to celebrate me, I take the initiative and celebrate myself.

This year I have spent the weekend in Vegas with 2 of my sisters.  Just being sisters, just relaxing, just having fun. (full disclosure, I am writing this more than a week before it will post)  I will be having a lovely dinner with family and extended family at the restaurnt of MY choosing.  And if everyone else doesn’t like it or doesn’t enjoy their meal, I honestly don’t care.  It is my birthday, I know I will enjoy my meal.  I’m even making my own cake.  That way I know it will be one I like.

In this directive I am planning out my future birthdays as well.  Specifically the big 5-0.  That isn’t as far off as it used to be.

My plan is this.  At some point in that year (2018 to be a little exact), I will be spending at least two weeks at DisneyWorld.  Anyone that wishes to join me for any or all parts of that two weeks are welcomed graciously.  I will share my hotel room with immediate family members (and select others) but all other expenses are your own.  I have started a small savings account to prepare myself for this event and if you plan on joining me I suggest you do the same.  I don’t think this will be a “summer” event as I hate Florida in the summer and I abhor huge crowds, I am thinking more along the lines of March or April.

    I’m a little excited already.

Why is it every time I tell some one that I have developed fluid on the bad knee and I am going in tomorrow to have it aspirated they make this face?

    How is that helping?

So yes, it seems just before I had the injection I started developing fluid on the knee.  The injection seems to be working, in that, my ability to walk longer distances without dying is better and my generalized pain is lower.  But the fluid is making it unbearable at times to straighten my knee to it’s full potential, you know, like how straight it needs to be for things like, standing, walking, living.  Minor issue.

Tomorrow someone will once again stick a needle in my knee and this time take stuff out instead of put stuff in.  I hate needles.  But instead of wincing, I will grin and bear it and look at this “aspiration” as an “inspiration”.  Hopefully with this I will be able to be pain free or at least free”er” than I am now.

I am a fool for anything with Johnny Depp (ok not anything, I never did see the Alice In Wonderland he did and I will not see the Barber of Seville shudder).  But this looks really good.  And although I know most of the world can’t stand Gwenyth I actually adore her, so there!

MORTDECAI opens nationwide JANUARY 23, 2015!

Lionsgate and OddLot Entertainment Present, An Infinitum Nihil / Mad Chance / Lionsgate Production

    Directed by: David Koepp

Produced by: Andrew Lazar, Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski

A bunch of friends online are picking words for the new year instead of making a resolution.  I never make resolutions, I never keep them.

I am pragmatic enough to know what I am and am not capable of doing.  I know if I set a resolution to “lose weight” I will eat a Reese’s for breakfast.

2014Last year I made the decision to “Open up the gates” and that worked out well.  I opened myself up to opportunities that I never would have before.  Most importantly I opened myself up to ME.  I spent the majority of my life making sure others around me were happy and taken care of with little to no regard to myself.  This year that changed.  I focused on me.  New clothes, new lifestyle, more focus on my job etc.  It resulted in me getting a promotion, raise, moving into my own apartment and buying a new car.  Not too shabby results, I would think.

So for this year, I am going to focus on Progressing. According to Merriam Webster (does anyone miss using an actual dictionary?) Progression is defined as “a continuous and connected series”.  I am going to continue and connect.

    Bring it on 2015!

    Full tilt ahead!

Out of Body On My Mind

I have been dreading this day for a week.  I try not to think about it before Christmas, but once the last guest goes home on Christmas night, I turn morbid.

It happens every year.  This year, it only took mere moments after for me to snap off Taj’s head for the stupidest thing.  In under an hour I was a mess of tears, apologizing for being a bitch and explaining my mind set.

I thought maybe I could take some time from work and go away for a few days.  But this is a really busy time and I am supposed to baby sit the grand twins tomorrow night.  So I am stuck at home.

I couldn’t bring myself to go to the casino alone this year, so here I sit.  In front of my tv, in front of my computer.  Trying desperately to breathe.  Why can’t I breathe?

    I miss you mommy.
