This is an advanced review, the movie opens nationwide in October.
I enjoy memoirs and biopics, they are my books and movies of choice, so when a chance to go to an advanced screening came up I jumped on it.
I shouldn’t have jumped so high.
Amelia Earhart was an aviator, she was a damn good one. That’s it. Oh yeah and she cheated on her husband. Movie over.
The acting was good, Hilary Swank and Richard Gere did great jobs as did Ewan McGregor. But there wasn’t much for them to do. The cinematography was good, the editing was done well (this was a “rough cut” so there were some technical glitches, but that is to be expected), and the location shoots were gorgeous. But there just wasn’t much of a story to tell.
Sorry Amelia but other than the flying gig, which is really cool what you accomplished and all, but not enough to fill a two-hour movie.
