Dancing With the Stars – All Stars – Week 6

Yeeeeee Hawwwwww!  It’s country music week!  Probably one of my favorite weeks, I love country music and I LOVE that Taylor Swift will be performing tomorrow! I adore her!

Sorry I went a little exclamation point crazy for a minute.  Hope this episode is worth it.

No one went home last week and the scores from the individual and group dance carry over and get added in with tonight’s scores.  The same go for last weeks votes.  Tonight we have individual dances and one all included group dance and during the individuals each Star has to do a solo.  During the Group Dance one couple will received an extra 2 points.   Confused yet?  Don’t worry, all you have to remember is to vote for Kirstie and Maks.  Heh.

Giddy Yup!

Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd – Cha Cha Cha (Feel Like A Woman): I loved seeing Gilles on the set of Switched at Birth rehearsing his dance in between scene shots.  The costumes were so far from “country” they were more like something out of the movie Chicago.  Score 27.5 Overall: 84 (out of 90)

Sabrina Bryant and Louis Van Amstel – Rumba (Wanted): I was completely turned off by Louis shirt the teal plaid made the color on my TV go wonky.  Unfortunately they also had a problem with a trick twirl.  But it doesn’t seem like the judges even noticed.  Score: 30 (the first perfect score of the season)  Overall: 88.5

Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerskovskiy – Tango (Good Girl): Personally I thought this was much better than Sabrina’s dance I’m sure the KISS at the end will be the talk of the tabloids tomorrow.  Score: 27  Overall: 78.5

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani – Viennese Waltz (Why Ya Wanna): I loved the set for their dance, the old west camfire and her skirt was adorable.  Easily my favorite dance of the evening.  Bruno compared Melissa with Cyd Charise.  Score: 29.5  Overall: 86

Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough – Cha Cha Cha (She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy): I think Shawn could be a professional dancer in her next life, but I also think her “solo” performance tonight looked more like moves from a “floor routine” than the Cha Cha Cha.  I enjoyed the rest of the dance, Derek (duh) did an amazing job of integrating the country moves with the Cha Cha Cha.Related articles.  Score: 28  Overall: 84.5

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerskovskiy – Rumba (Home): First of all how dare the awful singers ruin one of my facorite Michael Buble numbers!  Ok, back to Kirstie, I loved her solo, she was sexy and actually danced!  These two really make the show so much better.  Score: 27.5 (I still think Len hates Maks) Overall: 80

Apolo Anton Ono and Karina Smirnoff – Viennese Waltz (Sarah Beth):  I don’t know how much of the actual dance I saw through the tears in my eyes from the strength of the song.  I was hoping they would be bad (sorry) and be the ones to go home this week, but I doubt it now.  Score: 30 Overall: 86.5

Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke – Fox Trot (Islands in the Stream): Possibly one of my favorite solos tonight.  He fully commited to it and owned it.  Unfortunately throughout the rest of the dance I was completely distracted by Cheryl’s sister wife dress.  Score: 26.5 Overall: 82.5

GROUP DANCE:

Everyone dancing freestyle to Big and Rich and Cowboy Troy singing Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy and Chicken With a Train.

The group part during the first song was great, everyone seemed to do well and when the group is together it is harder to notice mistakes.  Unfortunately I think most couples had a problem during their solos.

The couple receiving the 2 extra points is Kirstie and Maks!

I voted (guess who), did you?

  1. Oh, dear Adrienne. While I do love you and your writing, we are completely at odds here (although I sympathize with your issues re colors and your TV set). My issue is that this is a dance contest, so while I like certain people, I can’t vote for them because they just aren’t that strong as *dancers*.

I, too, love Kirstie Alley, and agree that she is getting better each week. But she is, without question, the weakest dancer, although Emmitt is the next weakest and Kelly is pushing it. As for Sabrina – she is amazing! About the only dancer better than her is Shawn and she’s been slipping a bit.

Giles and Apolo are wonderful dancers and between them and Shawn and Sabrina, they should be the finalists, and it’s going to be a bear to pick who should win. If Sabrina keeps up at her current level, it would be awesome if she won since she was so completely robbed during her season (in favor of that clod Helio, no less, I’m so glad she outlasted him). But Shawn is great, as are Giles and Apolo, so any one of them deserve it.

But that’s just my opinion and you are entitled to yours as much as I am entitled to mine and we can still be friends. (Please don’t be mad at me – but people voting on popularity rather than dance quality is what got Sabrina booted so unfairly the first time.)

  2. pffffft no reason to be mad at anyone. All votes and obinions are suggestive (Like Kirstie’s solo LOL). I am really rooting against any previous winners, and know that Kirstie will not make it much farther (am watching the results show right now). I hope that Sabrina does take it to the end.

  3. It’s nice to see Kirstie step it up a little but if we’re being honest, she should have been eliminated a while ago. She has always been so far below the rest of the competition but her fans are voting to keep her on. My Hopper timers are set each week to record the new shows just in case I miss something while I’m at work. I’m also glad to see that Apolo and Karina finally got things back on track and performed beautifully. My DISH co-worker was a little surprised that Emmitt and Cheryl were in last place. My take on that is that you can’t be prefect every week. They still danced well. The freestyle dance was hilarious but I think it when it comes to breaking up the group routine into couples is when the trouble starts. I’m glad someone noticed besides me.
