Yes, I have too much time on my hands. Let’s get that out of the way right from the start. I wish I didn’t have all this time, and I probably could be a bit more proactive with this time, but nevertheless, it is what it is.
I have developed an addiction of sorts to Farmville and CafeWorld on Facebook. Those of you who are frien
ds of mine on their have no doubt noticed all of the updates from the two applications ad nauseum.
Is it a “bad” addiction? No, I don’t think so. Do I schedule my activities around when I may need to harvest my crops or serve my dishes? Quite possibly, but in all actuality it is the other way around. I will schedule my crops and my food to mature at a time when I know I will be online anyways. Or if I have no connection for a while, I will call a niece (Hi Megan!) and ask her to log in and help me out.
I have tried justifying this addiction to others by saying, it is good time management, it is spatial relations, it is a way to keep my mind sharp as I await the time to go back to work full time. But really, I think it is just another escape mechanism, to take my mind away from the fact that I have 6 more months until that time will be here.
Yes, I wish I didn’t have the extra time on my hands, but I do, and so, I farm.
