I am doing Community Service Volunteer hours at the local YWCA thrift store. I am not doing this because I am altruistic or philanthropic, I put myself in a bad situation and am now doing Community Service Hours. So when customers come in and thank me for being there, (it wouldn’t be open if I wasn’t there at that time or day) and tell me what a good person I am for doing this, and they wish they had it in them to volunteer, I almost feel the need to explain, but really don’t want to. But I also don’t want to take unearned credit for it either.

I think the credit was well earned. Just because you have to do something doesn’t mean you have to be there and if people are grateful for that, just accept the thanks.
