Vote for Me and I Will Kiss Your Baby

I have never entered any kind of blogging popularity contest before, but something compelled me this time.

If you can spare a moment to vote for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Super Why

I don’t usually pass along “Press Releases” but, Super Why is something that Caitlyn enjoys and I wanted to let everyone know about the fun new episodes coming up.

Super Why!

Hip Hip Hooray! Super WHY whips up a whole new reading-powered adventure when the Super Readers soar into the pages of a cookbook for the very first time! Super WHY and the Cookbook will premiere January 29 on PBS stations from coast to coast (check local listings). Whyatt wants to bake his little sister a special birthday cake – but he doesn’t know how. So Super Why and his friends soar into a new kind of book – and get the information they need from a rhyming chef with a silly sense of humor as well as a recipe for fun! In the end, Whyatt learns how to create the perfect birthday for Baby Joy.

Here are some awesome tips to help you cook up your very own yummy reading adventure! Encouraging preschoolers to read recipes, signs and more helps them navigate their world and gives them a real reason to use their new-found literacy skills. Asking questions will expand their creativity as well as reinforce comprehension. It can also inspire them to write their own signs, recipes or stories!

* Pick out a simple and tasty recipe with your budding Super Reader. Ask them to point out all of the letters and words they already know in the ingredients

* Write a grocery list together, sounding out the words as you go along

* At the supermarket, have your kids help read the signs so you can find the ingredients you need

* As you cook, read the recipe out loud every step of the way

* Before serving your delicious treat, create colorful place cards for each member of the family, assisting your preschooler in writing out the names. Have fun – and bon appetite!

Each episode of Super WHY, the award-winning literacy series from Out of the Blue Enterprises, engages young viewers in fun, interactive alphabet and word games, as well as imagination-stimulating spelling, vocabulary and comprehension activities, helping to instill a life-long love of reading all along the way!

Fed Ex – It’s Not Just for Packages Anymore!

Image via Wikipedia

When you think of Fed Ex, you think of sending packages.  At least I always do.  Now, within the last 5 or so years, you link the name Kinko’s with it and think of copies and printing and such as well.

But have you have heard the name Fed Ex and thought of Organizing or Time Management?  You should.

Fed Ex has a new Blog that is all about how to make your life easier, whether at home or at the the office.  And especially at a home office.

All next week they will be posting up ideas for New Year’s Resolutions and helping you to keep them.  They range form organinzing, to event planning to just figuring out a time for you to breathe amongst the chaos that is our lives.  I love the placemat idea!

There is information on how to utilize your local Fed Ex store to your best advantage, like Fed Ex Office, Print Online.  You can send stuff to their printers and pick it up at your convienence.  Even ask for a certain number of copies to be made before you get there, all from the comfort of your favorite chair (and even without pants!).

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of FedEx Office. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.  The opinions and view are mine all mine.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bidazzled. All opinions are 100% mine.

Bidazzled.com is is a new auction site that is redefining the online auction market by offering savings of up to 90% on name brand merchandise all while funding a charity.

Commonly called Penny Auctions or Pay-Per-Bid auction sites, bids are purchased in advance and then used to bid on merchandise. The price increases a few cents with each bid placed and a few seconds are added to the countdown clock to give others a chance to bid. The auction ends when no other bids are placed. So if a new laptop ends at just a dollar, then you win the laptop for a dollar!

What I like about Bidazzled is that it was designed and created to fund a lung cancer charity (The Ruch Foundation: www.ruchfoundation.com).

*Auction winners usually save over 80% off retail.
*Nobody Loses:
-If you don’t win, you receive up to 50 Bonus Bids as a thank you for participating, and
-You can purchase the auction item less the investment you had in the auction.
-If you win, Bidazzled typically make an offer to buy the item back for either:
-cash (paypal or check)
– cash and bids

In their first month, there have been 2 winners of Nintendo Wii’s who have won with just their 5 free bids!

* 15 Additional Bids to MY readers if you use this code until January 15th (all you have to do is enter it on the registration page, there is no obligation or cost of any kind):

* Blog: BBP1202A
* Twitter: BTP1202A

Bids cost $1 at Bidazzled and are available for purchase in bid packs as low as $25. You also receive bonus bids when you purchase a bid pack. The highest cost of a bid when you dilute the cost with the bonus bids you receive is only $.67 per bid and often much lower.

It is as if you are at a Charity Auction but sititng comfortably in your chair at home without your pants.

60 Christmas Carols for Kids

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Madacy Entertainment. All opinions are 100% mine.

Beginning on Black Friday (sorry I am a little late and I don’t know how long the sale will last, so hurry over now) Amazon MP3 Will offer an “MP3 Deal” on the digital album “60 Christmas Carols For Kids” for only $3.69. This digital album normally sells for $9.49.  60 songs is 3 full length cd’s worth of songs.  If you were to buy the boxed set of actual cd’s it would run $12.99.  With this sale you are saving almost $10!

I was just going through the previews of the songs on the site and noticed that it cost .99 cents to download each song individually, so now with the $3.69 sale price you are saving over $60!

This as an amazing collection of children’s Christmas favorites performed by The Countdown Kids that is perfect for sing a long fun!  I love that it includes secular as well as religious songs, from I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas to Silent Night.  The best of both worlds.

The MP3 collection can be downloaded right on to your computer and then either played from there or uploaded to your favorite MP3 player.

If you have a smart phone (Blackberry, iPhone etc.) you can even load any of the songs on to your phone and use them as a ring tone.

psssst Erika…….this could add another 1 hour and 47 minutes to your already 18 hour collection of Christmas songs on your iPod, LOL.

Demand it!

Having Tivo has given Kathy and I an advantage over where Caitlyn likes to relax and watch TV in the evening. She knows that in my room she can watch Handy Manny, Ni Hao Kai Lan and Wow Wow Wubzy. In Kathy’s room it is 64 Zoo Lane and Little Bear to her heart’s delight. I am about to lose my Tivo contract (costs too much for my budget right now) so I have been flipping around with our Charter Digital Cable and noticed that the On Demand section has kids shows as well as movies. Not only that but I found an episode of a new sitcom that I had missed as well – Score! There are over 6,000 movies and shows to watch anytime you want. No waiting, no schedules. Who knew? The best part? THEY ARE FREE! They also have seasonal episodes, like Blue’s Halloween, Miss Spider’s Scary Party. I can’t wait to see what Christmas cartoons we can watch together.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it is not like I am advocating for plopping a child in front of the TV, but when they do watch, isn’t it better to watch something you both can tolerate and on YOUR schedule not some TV programmer’s? I think so.

If you have Carter digital cable you can learn more at charter.net/ondemand. You can alsoget updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page and of course follow them on Twitter too!

It Takes Two to Tango

Many moons ago (ok maybe it was only 1993 or so) we had a neighbor with a very fertile cat.  As soon as a litter was born she was pregnant again (kind of like a Duggar).  When the kids watched a litter being born they picked out a kitten right then and there.  We weren’t planning on adopting a cat but nevertheless, Stone came into our home and became a member of the family immediately.

When we moved into our current home it had a good backyard and one of the first things on our to do list was to adopt a pet, a dog to be specific.  We trekked down to the local Shelter and looked at a multitude of dogs.  Big dogs, little dogs, furry dogs, old dogs and puppies.  But only one dog, gave us all the same “dumb dog” look.  You know the one, where the dog kind of tilts her head to the side and says “Huh?”  That was it, we were sold.  One of the kids stated “she is the link to our heart”, and that is how Link came into the family.

Of course I am a proponent of adopting pets, I don’t think anyone should spend a ton of money on purchasing a bred dog or cat, when so many animals are waiting in shelters to be adopted into loving homes.

A fabulous website that lists of thousands of animals in shelters across North America.  So go now to Petango.com – Adopt a cat! If you’re not a cat person then go to Petango.com – Adopt a dog today!

From their site:

Petango is a real-time searchable database of pets in need of loving homes. All our pets at Petango are cared for at reputable shelters across the country, so you can rest assured that you are adopting a happy, well-loved pet that is looking for a new home. Use our powerful but simple search to find your pet, it’s all based on your zip/postal code, so the pets you find will be right in your own backyard.

While I have you here, follow Petango on Twitter and friend them up on Facebook as well.

Breast Cancer Donations

pink ribbon

Image via Wikipedia

I don’t think you could sewing a stick without hitting someone that has been affected by Breast Cancer.  Whether it be first hand or in a loved one.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in light of my recent scare I would like to share some recent information I found out about with you.

Cryo-Cell International, Inc is partnering with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to explore the potential utilization of menstrual stem cells to treat breast cancer. The partnership is underway to better understand the C’elle stem cells and their potential benefit for the treatment of breast cancer.  Now I know how quite a few of you feel about fetal stem cells, but this is completely different.  You can purchase a collection kit, to collect and preserve the stem cells in your menses, as if you were going to do anything else with it instead.  A C’Elle Breast Cancer Donation will be made for the purchase of each collection kit.

Stem cells from menstrual blood are proven to be a rich source of stem cells. In fact, they are the subject of extensive, aggressive stem cell research and development, and industry experts anticipate that C’elle stem cells will be the next great frontier for diagnostic and regenerative medicine as well.

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cyro-Cell Breast Cancer Donation is offering contributions to the Susan B. Komen Foundation. $50 for each purchase of the “Protect Baby, Protect Mom” service and $25 for each purchase of the “C’elle Menstrual Stem Cell” service.
