Disney Jr. LIVE

Disney Junior Live Pirate and Princess Adventure #1

Disney Jr Live is coming to Long Beach and Hollywood in Septemeber!  And I have a discount code for you to get your tickets. I will be taking the grands on the 22nd in Long Beach.  Will we see you there?  I haven’t told them yet, I don’t think I will until we get there.  They are all three crazy about Doc Mc Stuffins, Princess Sofia and Jake.  They are going to plotz when they find out!

In this original storyline, Mickey and Minnie lead the audience on an exciting adventure that will have families rooting for their favorite pirate Jake and Disney’s first little girl princess Sofia. Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure begins with a special interactive pre-show featuring the loveable 6-year-old doctor to toys and stuffed animals, Doc McStuffins. Children and their parents will sing “The Check-Up Song” along with Doc as she provides tender love and care.

Audiences will then embark on a journey to the magical world of Enchancia, where Sofia, her step-siblings Amber and James, and the entire kingdom are preparing for the annual friendship festival. Sofia has the honor of delivering the perfect gift to her royal subjects at the celebration, and the one-and-only Cinderella visits the castle to help Sofia in her mission to find just the right present.

The excitement continues when families cast away to Never Land where Jake and his Yo Ho pirate friends Izzy and Cubby are in a race against time to locate a mysterious treasure-filled volcano. Danger, thrills and adventure lurk around every turn when our swashbuckling friends battle Captain Hook for the ultimate prize. Peter Pan makes a special appearance, aiding the team in their heroic quest, and with the help of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust, Jake and his crew fly above the stage in their journey.

Blurred Lines – Catchy Tune or Disgraceful to Women and Goats?

Robin-Thicke 1

Which do you prefer?

A long discussion happened on face book today, as it does everyday but this time I was an interested party.

Tee posted a question:

“Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke?
And have you seen Robin’s Blurred Lines videos? Are you offended by it, haven’t seen it, watched it a million times?”

Innocuous enough, but as face book is often wont to do there were some differing views.  You can see the entire thread here it is public https://www.facebook.com/terresaburgess/posts/10201932243251311    Ok so that link wasn’t as “public” as I thought it was.  But I posted the entire conversation below.

I love differing views.

We started with JT versus Robin.  I am team JT because Robin’s voice totally makes me think of his dad Alan and that makes me think of Growing Pains and then I switch to Kirk Cameron and that makes me crabby because he has turned in to such a thumper.

But some mentioned they thought the unrated uncensored version of the video was disgusting and that it turned them off of the song but Desiree said I couldn’t quote her so I won’t but I will refer you again to the link up above the conversation below and you can read it for yourself.  LOL

I think the video is hilarious.  I love the tune and the innocuous dancing.  Are the flopping boobs pertinent to the song? No.  Neither is the goat or the hideous shoes.  But they work.

The rated video is ok.  The music is still the same there is no difference there.  I RARELY watch music videos, I was never a fan of MTV in the beginning (still am not) so it takes a lot to get me to watch one, especially more than once.  And now when I need a giggle I put this one on and watch.

Take a look for yourself, tell me what you think.

Oh btw disclosure there are naked boobs in the video, but at least this time they’re not mine. Bonus.

For the record.  JT totally won the poll.

Labor Day Equals Neighbor Day

securedownloadSummer may be coming to a close, but Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the critically-acclaimed animated series for preschoolers from The Fred Rogers Company, will keep hearts warm with “Neighbor Day,” a charming, brand-new half-hour special premiering nationwide this Labor Day on PBS KIDS (check local listings).

On Monday, September 2, fans young and old (but not me because I will be in ALASKA!) will learn, alongside Daniel and his friends, how one simple act of kindness can snowball in wonderful and unexpected ways. In the adorable new special, Daniel’s first good deed starts a chain reaction of kindness all around the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, culminating with King Friday’s proclamation of an official “Neighbor Day”!

And there’s even more to celebrate! This Labor Day also marks the first birthday of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood! Daniel Tiger and his friends, O the Owl, Katerina Kittycat, Prince Wednesday and Miss Elaina, first “met” children and families from coast-to-coast one year ago, inviting them on fun and engaging adventures through a colorfully re-imagined Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Since then, the top-rated series has delighted viewers of all ages with its engaging and relatable stories and characters as well as its catchy musical strategies that reinforce the early learning theme in each episode.

“Neighbor Day” shows preschoolers that doing something nice for their neighbors can be a rewarding experience that makes them feel good about themselves – a message very near and dear to the beloved children’s entertainment pioneer Fred Rogers. Every episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhoodwas inspired by Rogers’ unique vision and this debut special is no exception.

To help encourage neighborliness with your little ones at home, here are some tips inspired by “Neighbor Day” and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood that will help show your preschoolers that doing something nice for their neighbors can be a rewarding experience that makes them feel good about themselves!

·         Volunteer!:  Check out your local food bank, library or neighborhood park for opportunities for your family to contribute, whether it is going through your house with your preschooler and donating extra canned goods or old books  or helping plant brand-new trees!

·         Play outside and meet new people!:  Bring your young children for a fun visit at the neighborhood playground, so they can make new friends and interact with old friends, too!

·         Ask to help!:  When your family sees someone who might need a hand, offer it!  Work together with an elderly neighbor who needs extra assistance in their yard or even have your preschooler help take care of a friend’s pet while they’re away on an end-of-summer trip.  You can also just talk with your child about times when you helped someone in need.

·         Smile and say, hello!:  Sometimes the littlest things makes the biggest difference!  When you are walking through your own neighborhood with your kids, greet passing neighbors with a friendly smile and a “hello” – you might just brighten someone’s day!

·         Make Coupons for Giving: Help your child create homemade paper coupons for kind and helpful acts, like “a hug,”  or “reading a book to a younger sibling” or “brushing grandma’s hair” or “rubbing grandma’s feet”.

The grands love Daniel Tiger, Madilyn has learned to “use her words” when she gets frustrated at school (as opposed to throwing toys at other kids and biting and other not so nice options).  Not to mention someone I adore is the creator of the show.

Disclosure, no one paid me anything and Angela didn’t threaten me either.  I posted because I love the show and I love my grands. So there!

One of My Favorite Things From D23

I got to sing along with Richard Sherman as he played iconic songs from Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins is celebrating 50 years and will be coming out on Blu-Ray combo pack on December 10th.

I don’t have time this week to write all about the fun I had.  But trust me I did.

Not So Wordless Wednesday – Beach Reading

image001

Ok, not so much reading as watching but close enough.  My grand kids really like Phineas and Ferb.  Caitlyn, the oldest, understands some of the humor, Matthew (4) likes the ingenuity and Madilyn (4) will watch anything.

On August 16th everyone can watch the new Phineas and Ferb Mission marvel movie on The Disney Channel.  But here in Los ANgeles The Childrens Place is celebrating a little bit early.

On Saturday, July 27th from 12pm to 2pm, join The Children’s PLACE at the L.A. Farmers Market to celebrate the upcoming August 16 premiere of Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel. Now, this fun new movie transports fan-favorite Marvel Super Heroes—Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, and Thor—to Danville , hometown of the beloved stepbrothers, Phineas and Ferb.

The first 50 attendees to arrive on Saturday will have the opportunity to meet the show’s creators, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, and take home a one-of-a-kind hand drawn illustration. All guests will be treated to an energetic Radio Disney sponsored dance party, and will get to meet Phineas, Ferb and Perry the Platypus.

The Children’s PLACE will also be giving away a free school supply kit, while supplies last, with the purchase of any Marvel or Phineas and Ferb licensed tees in retail stores. Shop Marvel or Phineas and Ferb licensed tees for all the kids, sizes 4-14, and you’ll be their back to school hero.

Delivery Man

image005There is a new movie coming out November 22 (Caitlyn’s birthday) called Delivery Man.  In it Vince Vaughn plays an affable underachiever looking for his purpose in life, when he finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them want to meet their biological father.

Uh, yeah.  To say this hits close to home may be a slight exaggeration but then again maybe not.

Without digging too deeply in to details (because I don’t think I can right now), I am facing the same issue.  The son I gave up for adoption 22 years ago has expressed interest in meeting.

So yeah.

Vince Vaughn goes through the movie surriptitiously meeting his “kids” and impacting their lives.  Is this realistic?  Who knows.  Whose reality is real?

I don’t know what I am going to do in my reality, sometimes I wish my life were a movie so I could sit back relax and watch what happens.

In the meantime, you can sit back, relax and watch this trailer.

I was treated to Tea for two last weekend (the suck is getting better) and brought my counterpart Sylvia along for the treat (well and to be the taster, because, yeah).  The scones were delicious, I have never had a peanutbutter scone before but I plan on doing so again real soon.  The sandwiches were interesting.  Sylvia enjoyed all of them, I tasted all but only really like the one with peanutbutter and banana (surprised myself!).
This is a great way to celebrate a special occasion for that certain someone in your life big or small.
