Let me preface this with – I have never seen a single Star Wars movie, nor do I ever plan on seeing one. Also, I have never participated in Cosplay, nor do I ever plan on participating. But I do work WonderCon every year and one of my favorite parts is seeing all the amazing costumes people wear. Some are full on studio created/approved and some are ragtag homemade with duct tape and staples. All are very cool.
But I am thinking next year’s WonderCon will have a little added something since the Force will be strong with STAR WARS fans this spring when ANOVOS Productions LLC unveils its first line of STAR WARS replica costumes designed to be both displayable and wearable.
Pre-sales begin on May the 4th for these licensed replica costumes. The collection of STAR WARS replica costumes by ANOVOS will premiere with three extraordinary creations based on the unforgettable adventure of STAR WARS: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back. Pieces from the collection will premiere during the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo from April 25 to 27.
“Our new Star Wars collection goes way beyond simple costumes – they’re based on the original costume designs and patterns used in the production of these classic movies,” said ANOVOS CEO Joe Salcedo.
Luke Skywalker’s Bespin uniform and holster will lead the release of the STAR WARSreplica costumes collection by ANOVOS, followed by Han Solo’s iconic costume from The Empire Strikes Back and – later in the summer – a wearable full-length Darth Vader costume.
ANOVOS plans to expand its new STAR WARS offerings later in the year with STAR WARS by ANOVOS Collection / 2-2-2 the addition of wearable armor-based costumes under the banner of “Kamino Armor Works.” Items from this line will include a bounty hunter Jango Fett costume from STAR WARS: Episode II-Attack of the Clones, and Clone Troopers costumes from STAR WARS: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith. A sampling of prototypes will be displayed in the ANOVOS booth #408 during C2E2.
The STAR WARS replica costumes collection by ANOVOS will be available for pre-ordering beginning May the 4th at www.anovos.com. Sizes for the costumes, which are created to be unisex, will range from small to XXL.

The illustrious Kim Prince thought it would be fun to give us an oddball phrase for this week. But I think I’m up for the challenge.
Last night I had dinner with Adam and he mentioned he had the day off and had some errands to run today so I offered to loan him my car. I figured I would call the boss and ask him to give me a ride or ask my son-in-law, somehow I would find a way to work.
At some point at the night I decided I would walk this morning. It’s 1.8 miles not really that far, some actually do consider that walking distance. Me not so much.
A good friend texted me this morning and offered me a ride after she dropped her son off at school, but I declined. I can do this I kept telling myself.
I started out shaky my ankles were weak the left one was hurting really bad. But I soldiered on. Because I favored that ankle my hip then started to hurt so about halfway through I was ready to stop.
I had already put it out to the world all over Facebook that I was going to walk and I was getting encouragement from family and friends. Humiliation kept me going I couldn’t stop because then what you can’t even walk a mile.
I made it to work in under an hour – 1.8 miles. I don’t know if that’s a good time or a bad time but all I know is I made it.
Oh yeah, I forgot I stir fry you in my wok, my face looks like it’s been stirfried after 1.8 mile walk.
I have a lot of friends who vehemently dislike the use of the color pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. They think it “pretifies” the cause, they think it is too “feminine”. They purposely don’t participate in or support any causes that use the pink ribbon or merchandise pink items. Good for them. They have an opinion and they feel strongly about it.
What I feel strongly about is the fact that Breast Cancer is still one of the leading causes of death amongst women. In Orange County alone one in eight women will be diagnosed with Breast cancer in their lifetime.
It is preventable, it is curable, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the hardest woring foundations in the fight. Thanks to Komen’s funding of research, new treatments and awareness of the importance of annual mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest and most curable stages, the survival rate for breast cancer has risen dramatically over the 33 years of the organization. The Orange County Komen Affiliate provides mammograms for uninsured women and works with other organizations to bring breast health information to people throughout the county.
Knott’s Berry Farm is joining in that fight with their #KnottsPink promotion. The promotion will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy Knott’s world class entertainment, attractions and specially-themed “pink” décor, while supporting an important cause that touches many women. Starting February 1, through March 31, guests can purchase “Pink Tickets” for theme park admission online at www.knotts.com. A portion of the “Pink Tickets” proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen Orange County.
Knott’s has kicked off the promotion with a $25,000 to the Orange County division of the Komen Foundation.
The money that the theme park has already donated will provide 400 women in Orange County with life-saving breast health services.
Guests entering the theme park during the time of the promotion will be greeted by a pink Knott’s Berry Farm for the Cure display adorned with Snoopy and his pal Woodstock. Guests can purchase a commemorative limited edition magnet to place on the special display in honor of, or in memory of, someone affected by breast cancer. The magnet will be sold at select merchandise locations inside Knott’s Berry Farm and all proceeds will benefit Komen Orange County. Kind of like the balloons sold for the Children’s Hospitals and the stars sold for something else.
