If you understand the title then you will agree with me that it is about dang time.

In the new “Doc McStuffins” episode titled “My Huggy Valentine,” Doc receives a stuffed Valentine’s Day heart named Val as a gift and Lambie gets jealous because she thinks Doc likes her new toy better.  After diagnosing Lambie with “splitheartitis,” Doc reassures her that no one could ever take her place.  This episode of “Doc McStuffins” premieresFriday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m., ET/PT on Disney Channel and 4:00 p.m., ET/PT on Disney Junior.

Then, in the “Handy Manny” episode, Manny wants to ask longtime friend Kelly to a Valentine’s Day party.  With a little help from the tools, he finally works up the courage and asks her to attend Mrs. Portillo’s party with him.  The episode titled “Valentine’s Day Party” premieres Thursday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m., ET/PT on Disney Channel and 6:00 p.m., ET/PT on Disney Junior.

A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps

One of the most spectacular things I have done in my lifetime.

For my first visit to Disneyland in 17 years, it was truly a magical one.

It started with a car service arriving in the morning to pick me up.  No one likes making the drive down the 5 freeway at any time of day and a car service picking you up means one is driving you home as well when your tired and your feet hurt and you just want to relax.  Yes the day is starting out very well.

I arrived at the Grand Californian Hotel and entered a ballroom filled with TV’s showing the Epic Mickey 2:The Power of Two video game that we were there to learn more about.  I can’t go in to detail about that yet, but I will at a later date.  Let’s just say there was some major game playing happening.

Shelby and Desiree checking out the new Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2

A wonderful lunch was provided complete with a mashed potato bar.  I was in heaven.

The lovely Shelby Barone with her first (of many) plates of food.

and desserts I can’t forget about the desserts!

The rainbow cupcakes were delish!

After lunch we were escorted in to Disneyland where we met up with our private tour guide Kortney

Isn’t she adorable!? Fun fact: Did you know the names on the doors and windows of Main Street are like “end credits”? They are an homage to those important in Walt Disney’s life.

Our first stop was the ever popular and always fun Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room (go ahead start sing “In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room…..”)

I think these are the same birds that were here 15 years ago

Next up was the biggest attraction on opening day, the Jungle Cruise.  Yes, they are still using the same jokes from back then as well.

Three of my favorite ladies, Caryn Bailey, Shelby Barone and Kirsten Erickson

The next stop is one that will stay with me for the rest of my life….Walt’s apartment.  There was a feeling as you walked in the door, an essence if you will, something made you feel happier while you were there.  Nopictures were allowed, but I do have some of the professional video that was taken and as soon as I figure out how to edit it down from the 30+ minutes I will share it with you.

Because I am old or more realistically because I am fat I was already tired from all of the walking, but my tiredness was soon to be rewarded with an exclusive opportunty…we were going to walk all the way to the back of the park at a quick pace without stopping to go somewhere that very few people ever get to go.  Club 33.    We all know I am not a Disneyphile so I only recently heard of Club 33, I knew it was exclusive but then I looked it up on WIkipedia and found out just how exclusive it is – “Corporate members pay an initiation fee of $27,500, and individual members pay $10,000 in addition to annual dues, which are about $6,100 or $3,500, respectively.”  YIKES!

This is just the menu, trust me when I say I took a picture of every morsel of food that crossed my lips.

In order to help work off this amazing meal we were escorted to a private VIP section in front of the castle to watch the fireworks.

A special Halloween version of fireworks with all the Villians taking part

By now I received a text from my driver saying he was here and waiting for me (I know right?!) but there was an open option to those who wanted to trek all the way back to New Orleans Square to go to the Haunted Mansion.  Yes I had blisters, yes my knee was swollen like crazy and yes, I chose to make the trek.

There is a loooong story behind this photo. Let’s just say although this post is not sponsored by Poise, it should be.

It was a long day, a wonderful day, an Epic day for sure.  Thanks Disney.

I was not compensated for this post, I received everything I mentioned above and some more stuff in a goody bag.  All opinions and jokes are my own.

Sofia the First

I never cut and paste press releases here, but I am tired and to be honest a little cranky right now (Friday evening), but this is a new Disney show that Caity and I are really looking forward to, so I wanted to tell you all about it.

Disney will introduce its first little girl princess with the debut of “Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess,” an enchanting, music-filled animated Disney Junior television movie for the whole family, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18(7:00-8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (9:00-10:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Junior, the 24-hour channel. A “Sofia the First” television series will premiere in early 2013. The movie and series will roll out internationally through mid-2013 on both Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels.

Set in the storybook world of Enchancia, the movie introduces Sofia, an average girl whose life suddenly transforms when her mother marries the king and she becomes a princess, Sofia the First. Sofia must learn to navigate the extraordinary life of royalty while holding on to her own hopes and dreams. Her journey to being the best she can be also paves the way for those around her to realize how special they each are.  Disney’s Cinderella makes an appearance in the movie to offer Sofia some words of wisdom – princess to princess.

Sofia’s royal adventure begins as she prepares to move into the castle with her mom, starting a new family with her step-father, King Roland II, and step-siblings, Amber and James. Helping Sofia in her journey are the three headmistresses of Royal Prep Academy – Fauna, Flora and Merryweather (the beloved fairies seen in Disney’s classic “Sleeping Beauty”) and royal steward, Baileywick, as well as a group of cute woodland creatures led by a wise-talking rabbit, Clover. Sofia soon discovers that looking like a princess isn’t all that difficult, but displaying honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion and grace is what makes one truly royal.

Created for kids age 2-7 and their families, the stories of “Sofia the First” communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to young children.  While she lives in a captivating world of castles, wizards and flying horses, Sofia remains a relatable peer-to-peer princess who is experiencing many of the same social situations as young viewers at home including learning how to fit in, making new friends and mastering new skills.

Events across multiple platforms will mark the debut of “Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess” beginning Wednesday September 19 with the launch of the DisneyJunior.com/Sofia website featuring an introductory character gallery. On Friday, November 2, the site will expand to include a fully immersive experience where kids can create and personalize their own prince or princess avatars. A digital EP featuring five songs from the movie will be available on iTunes and other online retailers beginning Tuesday, November 13. A live simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel and mobile VOD for AT&T and Sprint customers will be presented in conjunction with the movie premiere on Sunday, November 18. The movie will also be available the following day on WATCH Disney Junior, Disney Junior On Demand and DisneyJunior.com.

“Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess” stars the voices of Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”) as Sofia; Sara Ramirez (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Queen Miranda; Wayne Brady (“Let’s Make A Deal”) as Clover; Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”) as Baileywick; Darcy Rose Byrnes (“Desperate Housewives”) as Amber; Zach Callison (“Land of the Lost”) as James; Travis Willingham (“Ultimate Spider-Man”) as King Roland II; Jess Harnell (“Doc McStuffins”) as Cedric; Ashley Eckstein (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”) as Mia the Bluebird and Meghan Strange (“Special Agent Oso”) as Robin. Disney Legend Russi Taylor (Minnie Mouse), Barbara Dirickson and Tress MacNeille (Daisy Duck), bring Fauna, Flora and Merryweather, respectively, to life.  Jennifer Hale provides the voice of Cinderella.

Craig Gerber (“Pixie Hollow Games”) developed the movie and serves as co-executive producer and story editor. Jamie Mitchell (“Special Agent Oso”) is executive producer and director. John Kavanaugh (“Winnie The Pooh: Springtime with Roo”) serves as songwriter/music director and Kevin Kliesch (“Tangled Ever After”) is the composer. “Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess” is a production of Disney Television Animation.

Disney Junior reflects the emotional connection generations of consumers have to Disney storytelling and Disney characters, both classic and contemporary. It invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 2-7. Disney Junior’s series blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and characters kids love deeply with learning, including early math, language skills, healthy eating and lifestyles, and social skills. Disney Junior launched in February 2011 with a daily programming block on Disney Channel. In its first year, Disney Junior posted the network’s biggest yearly audience in the daypart in Total Viewers, Kids 2-5, Boys 2-5 and Women 18-49, increasing by double-digit margins among preschooler demographics over year-ago levels. On March 23, 2012 Disney Junior added a cable and satellite channel in the U.S. bringing the total number of channels to 30 worldwide.

Adventures in Clean

I recently had the pleasure of attending a screening of the movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, thanks to Disney and Frigidaire.

We started our day in Griffith Park with children all around having great summer fun and getting really dirty.  Unfortunately my grands weren’t available to come with me, so I was more of an observer.

After an introduction by Jennifer Garner (Star of the movie), everyone split up and the kids participated in fun activities.

There was a laundry folding relay.

And even a tug of war.

Some kids got Ms. Garner to help them dirty up their shirts so we could see how clean they got in the Frigidaire washer and dryers.

7D

Accessing a classic fairytale and finding new ways to bring it to audiences, Disney Television Animation has begun production on the new animated series “The 7D,” a comedic take on the world of Seven Dwarfs, this time in a contemporary storybook world designed for viewers age 2-7 and their families. The series is slated to debut in 2014 on Disney Junior channels and programming blocks around the world.  The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

The executive producer is Emmy Award-winning Tom Ruegger (“Animaniacs”).  Alfred Gimeno (“Tiny Toon Adventures”) is the director and Sherri Stoner (“Pinky and the Brain”) is the story editor. The characters are designed by Noah Z. Jones (“Fish Hooks”).

Kanter said, “Our goal for Disney Junior is to engage kids with stories and characters that represent the very best of Disney storytelling. With ‘The 7D,’ we look to continue Walt Disney’s legacy of reinterpreting classic folk and fairy tales in ways that delight new audiences. We’re excited to re-imagine these familiar characters and put them in a new humorous setting that we think will entertain kids and parents alike.”

The series takes place in the whimsical world of Jollywood, where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. With seven very distinct personalities, the 7D always manage to save the day and send Grim and Hildy running back to their evil lair to try another day

Happy Birthday Epcot

Okay the official birthday is October 1 and Epcot will be 30 years young this year.  I was stunned when I got the news.  I attended what I believe to be the opening week of the park way back in 1982. During that same summer my mom and I went to the World’s Fair in Knoxville Tennessee, attending the wedding of a cousin and then traveled down to Orlando to go to Walt Disney World.

I was lucky to have a cousin who worked for the parks and she used her comp tickets to let us in.  Unfortunately, if I remember my teenage self I was probably sullen and surly the entire time.  I do remember questioning my mom’s reasoning for even going to Epcot Center (as it was named back then) when we had just been to the World’s Fair, in my worldly 14 year old opinion they were one in the same.

As an adult and a mom it was always my dream to take my kids on a vacation to Walt Disney World and Epcot, sadly that never happened.  I wish I would have appreciated it more when I had the chance.

Now, D23 is holding a huge Anniversary Celebration later this year (tickets go on sale June 21) for it’s members.  This journey to yesteryear, the future, and around the world takes place one day only: on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. inside Epcot (Park admission is required and not included in the event ticket price). Each D23 Member may bring up to three guests.

Take a look at some of the presentations planned for that day:

Hooray for the 21st Century – Disney Legend and former Walt Disney Imagineering Principal Creative Executive Marty Sklar joins D23 guests via a virtual presentation, where we see and hear what it was like to work with Walt Disney on his original vision for an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Along the way, learn about Marty’s favorite memories working on the EPCOT Center project with a team of passionate Imagineers.

The Music of EPCOT Center – Some of Epcot’s most passionate fans agree that the park’s soundtrack has created one of its most lasting legacies that continue to help “makin’ memories” around the world. Join Disney historians and songwriters as we explore the incredible world of Epcot music, celebrating the talents of such Epcot songwriters and composers as Bob Moline, Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman, George Wilkins, Buddy Baker, X. Atencio, Peter Stougaard, Russell Brower, Edo Guidotti and others who have left a permanent musical mark on the park’s creative legacy. Along the way, hear stories about the recording sessions, learn about some fascinating alternate versions of some of your favorite melodies, and sing along to your favorite Epcot tunes!

“We Can Do It!” – Disney Legends and EPCOT Center creators review the immense challenge that loomed ahead of them when bringing Epcot to reality in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Guests will hear stories of trips to foreign countries to secure participants in the World Showcase concept, what life was like inside the largest private construction project in the world, and how they readied its highly anticipated opening day.

“We’ve Just Begun to Dream” – Join Disney Legend Ron Logan and other key Disney entertainment veterans as they reminisce about the official EPCOT Center opening festivities that remain among the most elaborate Disney has ever staged. This presentation will include rare footage from the grand openings of various Future World and World Showcase pavilions, which were held throughout October 1982.

That’s just a sampling of what is in store.

Someday…………………………………………………
